Surprise visit from a friendly neighbor

It’s 6am on a Thursday and I’m awakened by brisk winds knocking against my bedroom window. I’m aware of the snow we were expecting, 3 inches to be exact. I knew I’d better get outside soon and shovel the driveway, I have a life to live and snow can’t stop me. Plus, shoveling it sooner rather than later prevents ice and disaster. I never mind a morning outside, I put on some upbeat music, or a nice podcast and slip into my warmest of clothing. Long John’s on the first layer, a cozy full zip on top, insulated snow pants and merino wool socks. Of course, all the essential winter accessories. I heat up the stove to prepare some hot chocolate. It’s become a ritual I think, a way to look forward to a sometimes very physical activity . While I’m heating up the chocolate, I pop open the garage to see just how much snow is outside, and I’m met with the most beautiful surprise…. My driveway is clear.

And my connecting sidewalks are as well. Now I don’t have heated driveways and everything else around me is covered in snow..

I hit the lottery this morning. Much to my surprise, someone shoveled my snow for me. My heart immediately warmed and a huge smile came across my face! I had an idea of who might have done it, as there is this one neighbor whose always going out of his way to help out, but I wasn’t going to worry about that, I was just going to appreciate the kind gesture and enjoy my hot chocolate!

What a wonderful way for someone to start their morning. There’s something so comforting about knowing there are kind people out there, willing to sprinkle it on others 🥰
