As someone who has a small frame and baby face, I often get mistaken for a teenager or young 20’s something. This may not be seen as a big deal to some people, but over time it can affect self esteem, social experience and even dating life. “You look like you’re 12 years old”, is something no 27 year old ever feels good about hearing. I remember those piercing words because they were said to me. It shattered my self esteem, but also motivated me to seek change.
A few weeks after that incident as I was watching a Sheraseven YouTube video, someone asked her what to do when you have a baby face and she said “change your hairstyle or how you dress”. Now this wasn’t news to me necessarily, but it reminded me that I too need to take action to refine my look.
One thing that came to mind were dresses. I believe dresses, when done strategically can take any girl to a woman aesthetically in a matter of minutes. But not just any dress, the sheath/ pencil dress can take your maturity look to new heights as it’s timeless, figure-flattering and you’ll never see a 12 year old wearing one. 😉 I browsed Pinterest and have stumbled across some really lovely, solid-color dresses that fit this description well, check out my solid color dress board to see what I mean. This is the first styling tip I plan to add to my wardrobe refinement. For me, the above knee look is appealing, but there’s also a plethora of midi lengths in this style that can look just as flattering. I am excited to see how the sheath/pencil skirt will transform my style, appearance and social experiences. There’s nothing wrong with change!
