“Your pie is so good it doesn’t even need whip cream”

I opened my phone to the sweetest text message from a friend of mine regarding my most recently baked sweet potato pie.

On Monday evening, when I got off work I stopped by my friends place for a little. We chatted about her upcoming wedding and filled each other in on what’s happening in our lives. During my visit I told her about my new baking venture and how much fun I’d been having trying new recipes and she even agreed to be my taste tester whenever.

So low and behold, that evening I went home and baked a sweet potato pie, a recipe I’ve been working with for a couple of weeks now. I was eager to let her taste test, so once the pie was done I let it cool off and then cut a few slices and wrapped them together to drop off to her the next day.

As planned, the next day I dropped off a few slices of my homemade pie to her and was eager to get her opinion. She had never tried my food before, let alone a baked good. She said she was getting ready to prepare dinner and would save the slices for dessert for her and her fiancé that evening. I smiled and went on my way….

Later that evening as I was out running errands, my phone dinged with a new message! It was a picture from my friend of she and her fiancé eating the pie with huge smiles on their faces.

“Delicious, this is so your thing thanks so much for sharing. The pie is so good it doesn’t even need whip cream”.

Those words felt like the biggest hug!

Love,

Enjoying the sweet potato pie for dessert.
